# memory-index

## the note

One file per day. The date is the note date given in the task prompt:

```
~/notes/x-digest/x-digest-<YYYY-MM-DD>.md
```

This is the only file you write. Never edit, move or create any other file.

If the file does not exist yet, create the folder and the file with this head (note date filled in), then append the section:

```markdown
---
title: X digest <YYYY-MM-DD>
updated: <YYYY-MM-DD>
---
# X digest, <YYYY-MM-DD>
What the watched accounts said, one section per run, written by the x-digest agent.
```

## one section per run

Append, never rewrite earlier sections. Use the terminal with a quoted heredoc so nothing in the text is expanded:

```bash
mkdir -p ~/notes/x-digest
cat >> ~/notes/x-digest/x-digest-<YYYY-MM-DD>.md <<'EOF'
## <HH:MM> utc
<2 to 4 sentences of plain prose: what the accounts talked about since the last run, the window in hours, and how many posts the reader returned.>
Worth a look:
- @handle: <one line why>. https://x.com/handle/status/...
- ...
EOF
```

`<HH:MM>` is the run's start time in utc from the task prompt.

## style

English. No em dashes or en dashes anywhere (use a comma, a colon or a full stop). No emoji, no hashtags, no bold. Links exactly as the reader printed them.

## the end-of-day run

When the prompt says it is the notes run, first read the whole note for the day, then append a section headed `## <HH:MM> utc, notes for the day` with: a short paragraph on what held across the day's runs, at most 5 bullets of threads to keep watching (each pointing to a post already linked in the note or returned in this run), and the new posts from this run if any were worth a look.

## the reply

After the append, reply with the section you appended, exactly as written to the file, and nothing else.
